A five-part documentary series about what happened to New Orleans’ schools after Hurricane Katrina , and how it led to the most radical education experiment in modern American history. Kate served as the lead for this series, from development through promotion. Produced in partnership with The 74 and MeidasTouch.

An independent, pull-no-punches podcast about the perils and promise of education and democracy. Hosted by Chris “Citizen” Stewart, CEO of Brightbeam, and co-hosted by Kate, the podcast brought good humor and sharp analysis to the forces keeping students, schools, and democracy mired in counterproductive politics.

A six-month investigative series into the rise of microschools, homeschooling, pod schools, and ESAs across the U.S. Kate led this work from start to finish, including development, reporting, production, and promotion. Reporting on the project surpassed 1.1M total impressions.

Won a Webby for Best Partnership and was nominated for Best Limited Series, Crime & Justice. A co-production between The Branch and Crooked Media investigating the suspicious death of an Indian judge, and its profound implications for the world’s largest democracy.
